The family jumped at the chance to move to Princeton when a job opportunity open up nearby. Ann had fond memories of her undergraduate days on campus and knew it would be a lovely location for her young family. They bought a solid 1920’s era classic home in the Institute for Advanced Study neighborhood that was in dire need of renovation. Maintaining the original living room with chestnut cabinetry and fireplace, we reworked the rest of the first floor to provide a new large kitchen/breakfast room, dining room, sunroom and functional laundry/mudroom from the garage. The second floor needed all 3 bathrooms replaced and we took the opportunity to rework the layouts to improve the functions. A fresh modern feel was created with the selection of timeless materials of marble, natural wood custom cabinets, built-in LED lights and no VOC European oil finishes on the existing and new oak flooring. The plaster walls and original trim were maintained to create a harmonious home, seamlessly blending old and new.
